If possible, choose a domain name which includes your local area, and structure URLs to include relevant geographical terms where possible. Create content which talks about your local area, but be sure to make it engaging and relevant to provide a good user experience. Include your business NAP (name, address and phone number) on every page of your website – not just your home page or contact page. If you don’t want to spend any money on a keyword tool, you can simply google the keyword you want to rank for. Does your site ‘fit in’ with the results Google shows you? Or are the sites on the results pages much larger or more well-established than your website? If you run a small business, gaining exposure and driving traffic to your website is probably a key part of your marketing strategy. If you’ve got a brilliant website, but you’re not getting as much interest as you’d like, stepping up your SEO campaign could prove to be a game-changer. Work with Google to provide your users with the most relevant, well-informed and entertaining answers to their questions.
